Mission accomplished. The long promised letter has been delivered to the Town Hall on Monday. We were going to just drop it off in the reception area on the first floor and then out.

But then you cannot go to the Town Hall and not have the elevator ride with Matthew and for me to explore the art on the walls. Lady instructed us to go to the second floor and give it to the Mayor directly. We were not keen, but we decided to go to the second floor and delivered there.

The little finger pressed the button 3. I guess we are going to the Skylight gallery first.

The dramatic view revealed itself when I saw a lady setting up the gallery for the month of October. I later learned the artist was Shawna Patenaude, artist from Georgina.

I absolutely loved her art, especially because I am a very big fan of the still art. The artwork beamed towards me with simplicity, yet engaging and captivating me as a observer. The red apple with water drops – surreal photo I thought, but it was painting in fact. Her art has a touch of reality as well.

Which one is your favorite?‘ – a man asked Matthew.
The bicycle one‘ – Matthew answered.
Of course‘ – he replied smiling.

I could see that even Matthew enjoyed her beautiful art as well. So so if you around the area this gallery is a must visit to the Skylight gallery for the month of October.

Yesterday was overcast and rainy day. The light was subdued and soft in the gallery, and not too strong on the paintings. The artificial light illuminated all the artwork just right.

Finally and at last we were on our way to second floor to deliver that letter. On the way back after successful delivery we were back in the elevator and the little hand again pressed number 3. I asked for it so I could snap few pictures. The little man did not resist.

I couldn’t leave without record of my visit. I absolutely loved it this time.

I am living in Aurora and this is my photo journal blog. A picture says 1000 words - but not always, so I write. You don't have to travel 1000 miles to find a treasure - all I have to do is zoom through my lens and I will find it for you here in Aurora.

  1. Thanks for the tour of the Skylight Gallery, Anna. I will have to check it out. I’m glad that at Aurora town hall they’re trying to do a little bit more than just administer Aurora. Beautiful paintings by Shawna Patenaude in your photos!

  2. Lovely! But you were allowed to take pictures? In a gallery? Most galleries I know would forbid it.

  3. Thank you so much for mentioning my artwork in your blog, Anna! It was wonderful to meet you and your little man on Monday. I am happy to report that the Artist Reception went very well and I sold three paintings. BTW Marvin…Anna was very nice and asked me if she could take the pics.

  4. I am the lucky recipient of one of Shawna’s Rose paintings, it’s just stunning, as all her work is. I wish I had more walls in my house, they would be covered in her work, especially the kitchen!

  5. James no problem and thank you for commenting.
Yes it is worth visiting and yes it is nice to visit town hall just for a tour.
Her paintings are in fact beautiful.
    Anna :)

  6. Marvin, I really don’t know. I asked Shawna that day if I could, but if she wasn’t there I probably would too, I snap photos of everything.
Thanks for visiting my town again.
    Anna :)

  7. Shawna no problem and it was nice to meet you too. Matthew remembered and kept talking about the tri-cycle again when I showed him my post with your gallery.
You know I am not surprised that you sold paintings that day. You will do well, it is a very beautiful display.
    Thanks for commenting Shawna.
    Anna :)

  8. Sandi thank you for commenting.
Yes the walls is always an issue, lol, I wish I had some more too.
